Reading, Writing, and Radical Empathy

My second grade teacher had a long-lasting impact on me through her kind, nurturing manner. During my time in her class I suffered a severe femur fracture and was limited in my activities for the rest of the year. She made sure that I wouldn’t fall behind the other kids, even going so far as to come to my house with the work I missed after I returned from the hospital. The kindness she showed me during such a difficult time showed me how big of an impact I could have on others by being equally kind and caring.
